Victoria is a state of Australia...i live in the capital, Melbourne. The city is pretty much the only place in the state which hasn't been razed to the ground by the Black Friday/Saturday bushfires.

Some are still burning...and the ones that have been defeated by the firefighters have devastated pretty much all of the countryside. I've had cousins stay over at our place while their their dad fought away the fire threatening to burn down their house in the mountains. Kevin Rudd, the prime minister himself, has actually noticed what's been happening. if you live in Australia you'll know about the national Day of Mourning for those who've died (such as the next door neighbour of said cousins) and those whose lives have been ruined by the blaze. some disgusting people actually LIT some fires before demanding compensation for their burned property from their insurance company.

i feel so guilty that i can just sit here and complain about the maths test tomorrow, how annoying my brother is, our house is so small...really really petty things. and others all round the state are reeling from the damage the fires have done to their lives.

All i can do is donate the last few $2 coins in the spare change box. Not even mine, i haven't even earned them. i feel like there's nothing i can do but bite my lip and stare at the TV as it tells of our ravaged state.

So what...life goes on. Not for them, though; not for the people who lost their lives, their property, their friends and family.
